THE CLOCK TOWER
Bhupi sherchan
Some worn off
Some gnawed by rats
Other
distributed among kith and
kin
One by one
All the old
military outfits are gone .
But jealously guarding
two cherished souvenirs
Of army life –
An old – modeled , large , round pocket –watch
Hanging from the neck
,
And ancient hat on the head –
Like a pensioned senior vet
Who must pass
long , sad days
of old age ,
Having cast bait into
Ranipokharil
Standing forever on
its bank,
Ghantaghar , the Clock
Tower,
Broods.
